About the Game 

Light Fight is a competitive two player capture-the-flag game built around tight balance, rapid decision-making, and seasonal rivalry. Players take on the roles of Spring and Winter, each fighting to control a single source of light in the centre of the arena. Victory depends on timing, movement, and strategic awareness, as both players possess mirrored abilities that ensure a fair and highly competitive contest. The match flow is fast, focused, and deceptively simple, demanding both precision and anticipation.

This game is designed exclusively for two player local multiplayer and requires two controllers to play.


Background

Light Fight was developed as part of the 2012 FAB48hr Game Making Challenge at Queensland University of Technology. The project emerged from an intense 48-hour development, requiring rapid ideation, disciplined scoping, and efficient collaboration under strict time constraints. Despite this accelerated production environment, the team delivered a polished, visually coherent, and mechanically refined game that resonated strongly with players and judges alike.

The game received Best Graphics, People’s Choice, and Overall Best Indie Game, reflecting both its strong aesthetic direction and the clarity of its competitive design. The project remains a significant early milestone in my practice, demonstrating the value of clear conceptual framing, scope control, and cohesive visual identity within short-form development challenges.
